It’s in the Air
Choreography and performance: Jefta van Dinther and Mette Ingvartsen Lighting design and set: Minna Tiikkainen Sound design: Peter Lenaerts Dramaturgy: Bojana Cvejić Technology: Oded Huberman Production management: Kerstin Schroth
In their virtuoso dance performance, Mette Ingvartsen and Jefta van Dinther explore the relationship of bodies and movement and to do so shift the action into the air: the set and the working material are two enormous trampolines on which the two dancers leap, skip, spring, rock, and much more. The boundaries between free, deliberate movement and their culturally conditioned patterns are playfully explored. The trampoline not only facilitates different, new movements, dynamics, qualities and movement combinations, but above and beyond this has a kinaesthetic effect on the audience, ranging from excitement to hallucination to dizziness. It’s in the Air is a movement concert, a circus act, dance analysis, worldly wisdom and a children’s game all in one.
Production: Mette Ingvartsen / Great Investment and Jefta van Dinther / Sure Basic. Co-production: Hebbel am Ufer/Berlin, Kaaitheater/Brussels, PACT Zollverein/Essen. Financed by funds from the Capital Cultural Fund (D) and Kunstrådet (DK). Supported by: Eurotramp (D), Les Brigittines/Brussels, Charleroi/Danses, Centre Chorégraphique de la Communauté Française de Belgique/Brussels, Ballhaus Naunynstraße/Berlin and sommer.bar 2007.
